Weekly Response #5 11.5

Pick one of the books your have read this trimester.  If the book was made into a movie (if it's already a movie -- pick a different book!), who would be the leading roles?  What scenes of the book would make the cut in the movie?  Why are these scenes the most important?

OR

Decide if you book could be a sequel.  How you would incorporate the first book into the series (for those that may have not read the first book)?  What would happen in the sequel?

  2. My other favorite book this trimester has to be Gym Candy. Its a page-turner for sure. Not only does it have a suspense feeling but it also keeps you guessing. The leading role would have to be Mick Johnson a try hard, all-star running back for Shilshole high. There are many scene that would be included in the movie because they all lead up to the end.

  3. Most of the books I've read have been made into movies! Like, The Hobbit, all of The Lord of the Rings books, My Sister's Keeper!! I don't know if they'll ever make a movie about The Last Dragon Chronicles series! I don't know who would be in it! It'd be a very interesting movie!!

    1. If there was a sequel to My Sister's Keeper, what would the sequel be about?

    2. If there was a sequel it be about Kate´s life afterwards because she got the kidney from Anna, so she would still be alive. It would just talk about her life, what happened after Anna´s death to her family and friends.

  4. Well I think Rangers Apprentice Book # 1 would be a book to make into a movie. The main character should be cast as a regular orphan that has taken acting lessons because it would make a the orphan happy and also they would be able to play the part because Will is an orphan that didn't know his parents. The scenes that would make it would be, when they pick there careers as a knight, cook, carrier, or a ranger. Also when they are on the road to find and kill the kalaharas. Plus when they return to castle Aruala for their brave courage in killing the kalaharas.

    1. Do you think these movies could be as popular as The Hobbitt? Do you think they would ever make this series as movies?

  5. All of the books I've read this trimester have already been made into movies already, but one book I read last year that hasn't was Handle With Care by JoDi Picoult. It's a very dramatic, family oriented book, where you have to choose family over friends. The main character would have to be a young girl. The bighearted mother is also a very important character in this story, and I think Sandra Bullock would be great for that role. Not to mention the father, older daughter, the mother's friend, and the judge and lawyers. This story is intense and would need very experienced actors to do it justice.

    1. Why do you think Sandra Bullock would be good for this role? She is one of my favorite actresses!

  6. The book is Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. If this book was a movie, it would probably have all the same characteres as the first one which is the Hunger Games. The parts that would make the cut would probably be all the action in the arena and all the main stuff that happens like how they blow up the wall.

    1. Do you think they are going to have to leave out a bunch of the book like they had to on the first one?

  7. Most of the books i read this trimester weren't made into movies, but if i had to pick one it would be Thirteen Reasons Why. It would be interesting to see how they made struggles, and people dealing with bullying, and suicidal thoughts into characters in a movie. Most teenagers these days do, so it wouldn't be uncommon, but it would be nice to see how they put more depth in reality. The story is so sad and realistic most people would cry. I would really love to see this book into a movie, i believe they are starting to make one (:

  8. This book is called Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. This book isn't a movie but if it was all the characters would be the same with new ones added. The parts that would make the cuts would probably be the ones in the arena and when they find out there really is a district 13.

  10. The only two books that I have read are already movies and they have sequels. The book that I am reading now is the sequel to the first book that I read. They are Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. OBAMA FAILS AND ROMNEY IS GOING TO WIN THE ELECTION!!! This is America and I have an opinion: Freedom of Speech. If you have a problem take it up with my dad. The right to free expression is a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

    1. The awkward moment when Obama won the election and not Romney!

    2. @Noah- Too bad Obama won... But Mitt Romney did win in the popular vote category.

Anyway, Eragon could be a sequel. Perhaps there should be a prequel that tells a more in-depth and lengthy story about the events that took place before Eragon received Saphira's egg, maybe explaining in more detail how Galbatorix came to conquer the Riders with the Forsworn. Maybe the age that came before Galbatorix's time could be explained. I'm not going to go on with this any longer, because there's pretty much a near infinite amount of prequel ideas for Eragon.

    3. @Steven- I like those books a lot! My family even owns the movie Eragon! The books are obviously a lot better, but it was a pretty good movie!

    4. Seems to me there must have been a slight discussion about the election in class that I was not aware of? As I recall the question posted had nothing to do with the election... I appreciate the commentary of opinion however, please keep the discussion to the question that was posed.

With that said... What do you predict will happen in the next book as the first two have been made into movies and you have read the first two. OR if you have seen the movies how are they different than the books.

  11. I don't know if there is a movie for the city of ember. The sequel would be them after they found out they lived underground. They would see what life is like on Earth and not under it. They would see all the other people like them and get along and finally live the happy life in the world they never knew existed.

    1. Have you read the other books in the series? Would these books be movie worthy and do you think that your age group would go watch these types of movies?
